Countdown to the LONGEVITY Conference

As we’re heading into the final week, winding down to the LONGEVITY conference, I am reminded of a quote from our Liberating Leadership conference earlier this year: We cannot be empowered and encouraged if there’s no engagement. (Liberating Leadership 5.22.2020) Our esteemed guest speakers are ready to deliver a word that will empower, edify, and encourage. BUT we must engage to receive that word!
There’s a popular story that I think many of us take for granted. A man is drowning and cries out to Jesus for help. The Lord sends a motorboat by, but the man tells the boat captain “No, I’m waiting on Jesus to help me”. The motorboat leaves and the drowning man continues to cry out to Jesus. A little while later, the Lord sends a helicopter. The pilot drops the ladder down to the man to pull him up out of the water. “Grab the ladder. I’ll pull you to safety,” says the pilot. But the man says “No, I’m waiting on Jesus” and continues to cry. Finally, the Lord sends a rowboat by. “Grab the oar, I’ll pull you aboard,” says the oarsman. Again, the drowning man says, “No. I’m waiting for Jesus to help me.” At last, the drowning man dies. Upon facing Jesus, the man asks Him, “Why didn’t you help me?” The Lord replies, “I sent you two boats and a helicopter, but you would not lay hold of my help.”
Of course, this story is an exaggeration, but it reminds us of an important truth. We must engage! We must lay hold onto God’s provision, whether that is wisdom, guidance, finances, opportunities, etc. He will send them our way. We must grab on and not let go.
The LONGEVITY Conference is an opportunity for us to grab on to empowerment, encouragement and edification from some of the greatest leaders of our day. Will you be there?
